Our Vacation Program offers paid work experience for undergrads wanting to apply what they’re learning to real world projects.
The program runs for 12 weeks over summer, and can include roles in engineering, data analytics, communications, and environment. Applications open mid-year and the program begins in December.

The program
Vacation students will get practical experience in their chosen role while we provide on the job coaching to build your technical skills and get the opportunity to work on meaningful work that impacts the Canberra community.
We look for undergraduates who are in their second last, or last year of study, and who are passionate about developing their career and open to learning new things.
How to apply
Eligibility
Second last, or last year of undergraduate study. The desired degrees will be specified in the job ads when they open each year.
Previous experience working in a team-based role and/or evidence of teamwork outside of work (e.g., extra-curricular activities, sporting teams, social groups)
Passionate about driving positive safety behaviour
The process
When applying for the vacation program, be prepared for the following:
- Application, including your resume and a cover letter
- First stage: online video interview
- Personality questionnaire, general abilities assessment
- Second stage: assessment centre and face-to-face interview
- Pre-employment screening: police check
- Offer of employment
