Storm response update | Thursday 02 July 5.00pm

Almost all customers affected by last night’s severe storm have now had their power restored, with 12 customers remaining without power this evening.

Our crews are continuing repairs this evening, and we expect the remaining customers to have power restored once work is safely completed.

At the peak of the storm, around 9,000 customers were without power across the ACT. Crews worked throughout the night and across today to safely assess damage, make the network safe and repair widespread damage, with most of the impact caused by trees and branches falling onto powerlines.

Power outages are never convenient, and we sincerely thank the Canberra community for its patience, understanding and support while our crews responded to this significant weather event. We would also like to thank our Evoenergy crews and support teams who worked in difficult conditions overnight and throughout today to safely restore power to thousands of customers.

Safety reminder

With more wind and rain forecast tomorrow, we encourage the community to remain vigilant and take extra care around the electricity network.

Always stay at least 10 metres away from fallen or damaged powerlines and anything they may be touching, including fences, gates and tree branches. Never attempt to move fallen powerlines or remove trees or branches from powerlines. Always assume powerlines are live.

If you see fallen or low powerlines, trees on powerlines or other damage to the electricity network, please report it to Evoenergy on 13 10 93.
