Storm response update | Thursday 02 July 11.30am
On Wednesday, 01 July 2026 at around 10.00pm, parts of the ACT experienced a severe storm resulting in extensive damage to our electricity network. At the height of the storm, there were around 9,000 properties without power.
High winds and heavy rain caused damage to the overhead electricity network, including fallen trees and branches bringing powerlines down.
Our crews have been in the field since the storm hit to restore power and make the network safe. Additional crews joined the effort early this morning to assess the damage and commence repairs to the network. By 6am crews had safely restored power to more than 8,000 properties. Around 200 properties remain without power. We aim to restore power to most of these customers by 6pm today.
We know outages can be disruptive and thank you for your patience as we work hard to restore power safely and as quickly as possible. We will continue to update the outage map as more information becomes available.
If you see fallen powerlines or damaged electrical equipment – stay at least 10 metres away from them or anything they’re touching – including fences. If you’re unsure if they’ve been reported, call us on 13 10 93.
