Is an apprenticeship right for you?

The apprenticeships available include Electrical Fitters, Lineworkers and Cable Jointers.

An apprenticeship combines practical field placements and classroom studies – both of which enable you to gain hands-on experience while learning from highly skilled, experienced tradespeople.

Apprenticeships in this field involve a variety of hands-on requirements you will have to consider when applying and an apprenticeship looks different day-to-day. You could be asked to:

  • Work from heights as you learn to install, repair and maintain overhead electrical equipment.
  • Work at ground level or in trenches as you learn to haul, install, repair and maintain underground cabling infrastructure.
  • Construct and work inside small spaces and substations - diagnosing and rectifying faults.
