Statement on Industrial Action by Evoenergy employees

ELECTRICITY EMERGENCY

13 10 93

GAS EMERGENCY

13 19 09

24 Jul 2023

Evoenergy is currently negotiating with employees and representative unions on a replacement for our Enterprise Agreement which expired on 30 June 2023. Although these negotiations are continuing, one union, the ETU, has decided to pursue Protected Industrial Action.

We value the contribution of our employees and the work they do for the Canberra community. While we are disappointed this action is taking place, we respect the process undertaken through the Fair Work Commission and will continue to negotiate a resolution in good faith. Our goal is to reach an agreement which recognises the hard work of our employees while balancing customers’ expectations around energy costs.

We remain committed to maintaining safe and reliable electricity to our customers and community but there may be unavoidable disruptions to some of our services during this time. While this action takes place, our top priority is to ensure electricity supply to critical customers and infrastructure.

While we are doing all we can to carry out all our planned works and minimise the impacts of any industrial action, customers may experience:

  • delayed restoration of unplanned outages
  • delays to customer works being completed (such as connections)
  • cancellation at late notice of planned interruptions

Please be assured that safety is always our highest priority. The ETU has also acknowledged the importance of safety and have provided undertakings in this regard. In case of an electricity fault or emergency, customers should continue to call us on 13 10 93. Customers will be notified if there are any changes to upcoming planned works that affect them, or if any customer appointments need to be rescheduled.

There will be no impact to the gas network and customers should continue to call 13 19 09 for gas faults or emergencies.

As always, safety for our employees, customers, and contractors is our number one focus. We will continue to update you on relevant developments and thank you for your patience.
