Power outages and information now at Evoenergy

Thunderstorms have already caused havoc this summer and from today the community need to follow Evoenergy for information about power outages in the ACT. This information was previously available on the ActewAGL website and Twitter.

Evoenergy Branch Manager Works Delivery Clinton McAlister said, “Information about electricity interruptions is now available on the Evoenergy website, at evoenergy.com.au, and we’re urging everyone to follow @EvoenergyACT on twitter for updates about unplanned outages.

“Last Friday’s storm and the high winds on Saturday caused many trees and branches to damage power lines causing blackouts across several suburbs.

“Trees hitting powerlines is one of the biggest hazards during storms. Make sure trees and vegetation are at least 1.5 metres away, and if branches are impacting powerlines you must get an accredited tree surgeon to do the job,” said Clinton.

“We all need to be prepared for managing any weather-related incidents like storms, extreme heat and bushfires, and knowing who to call and where to find information is really important

The Evoenergy numbers for faults and emergencies are still the same: call 13 10 93 for electricity and 13 19 09 for gas. There is also a new Evoenergy general enquiries number 13 23 86.

You’ll still talk to ActewAGL or another retailer about your energy bills.

From 1 January, the electricity and gas network part of ActewAGL changed its name to Evoenergy.  This change has been brought about from a decision by the Australian Energy Regulator.
