Suitable shrubs to grow near powerlines
New trees should be planted at a distance from the powerline that is equal to the expected height of the tree.
For most plants the spread equals the height, so allow for adequate space for the plant to grow.
Please note that the examples given below are only provided in the context of Evoenergy infrastructure. You should always check with Transport Canberra and City Services for their current listing of declared plant pests before choosing what to plant.

If trees and vegetation are within 1.5 metres of powerlines, only Evoenergy accredited tree surgeons are authorised to cut them back. Trees and vegetation also need to be at least 1.5 metres away from Evoenergy assets, including mini-pillars and substations.
